OHIO TRAILS EXPO
May 17-19, 2002, Hocking College Campus, Nelsonville.
The Ohio Trails Expo brings together hikers, backpackers, mountain
bikers, equine riders, canoers and kayakers to give individuals and
families information about muscle powered trails for fun and a healthy
lifestyle. Workshops and demonstrations are on-going with commercial
displays as well as displays from green ways, waterways and trail groups
from Ohio and surrounding states.
Sponsored by Buckeye Trail Association and Hocking College.
Admission: $5 adults; $3 students, children six and under free.
Friday & Saturday, 9 a.m. to 7 p.m.; Sunday, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

MSI KAH MI QUI LODGE POW WOW
May 24-26, 2002, Hocking College Campus, Nelsonville.
Americans interested in Native American Indian folklore host this
event. Participants have learned ceremonial dances and perform twice
daily, one daytime and one evening performance. Crafters offer Native
American crafts for sale.

HOCKHOCKING FOLK FESTIVAL
June 1, 2002, Robbins Crossing, Hocking College Campus, Nelsonville
Music, culture and heritage come alive during the Hockhocking Folk
Festival when folk music legend Jean Ritchie, among the inaugural group
inducted into the Kentucky Music Hall of Fame, is the featured
performer. The 2002 Ohio State Flat Pickin' Guitar Champion will be
chosen and other regional musicians will perform on the main stage and
in the family area. Visitors are encouraged to bring musical
instruments and take part in jam sessions under the big shade trees or
on the porch of a log cabin. Activities include group lessons on
guitars, dulcimers and other folk instruments, instrument building, a
make and take area, storytelling and food.
Admission: $5 adults, $2 students 12 and under.
Activities from 1 to 7 p.m. Bring lawn chair or blanket for seating.

THUNDER IN THE VALLEY
July 4, 2002, Hocking College Campus, Nelsonville.
The "Thunder in the Valley" fireworks spectacular is the culminating
event of Athens County's July 4th celebration. It is the largest
fireworks display in Southeastern Ohio and is choreographed to music and
set against the spectacular backdrop of the Hocking Hills.

IBO EVENT
July 12-14, 2002, Hocking College Campus, Nelsonville.
Two events held simultaneously: third leg of the Triple Crown of
Bowhunting where points from the local (Bowhunter Challenge) shoot are
added to points accumulated at earlier competitions and a national
champion is determined. Shooters aim at 3D targets ranges across the
1,600 acre campus. Amateurs and professional teams and individuals
compete. Sponsored by International Bowhunters Organization, entry fees
vary for competition levels.

- Ohio Smoked Meat & BBQ Festival
Oct. 19, 2002. Hocking College Campus, Nelsonville.
The food is great and the competition is fierce during Ohio's only
Kansas City Barbecue Society (KCBS) sanctioned cook-off for the state
championship. Contestants may compete in any or all seven categories
(four of which determine the cook-off champ) and the opportunity to
compete at Jack Daniels Invitational and/or Kansas City Royale
competitions. Admission charged.

TOWNE CENTRE CHRISTMAS
